I Know I Hurt You

 I know I hurt you when

I ignore what you say,

In your own quiet way;

When your lips are glued

But a lot your eyes convey.

I know I hurt you when

You want to lie and just be,

In my bosom and feel me;

But I yield to the curvy you

And lust, not love, beats me.

I know I hurt you when

You wish me to conserve

The esteem you so deserve;

But often I take foolish pride

In cutting you down to size.

I know I hurt you when

You work so hard to care,

To delight me and endear;

But I deplore and dishonour

Your love and fealty so rare.

I know I hurt you when

You are right, I am wrong,

You polite, me so headstrong;

Still I try to uphold and hound,

Just to win over false ground.

I know I hurt you when

I force you to act and confess

What is against your nature;

Your seity I snare and capture,

And proudly stress your failure.

I know I should now learn

With no concealed grudge,

To honestly respect and love,

Try to all evil inflictions shove,

And protect you as my dove.
